Patience....

Yesterday was one of those days in my parenting life that I wish never to recall. How is it possible that one little 41/2 spitfire can make me feel so angry and frustrated I wonder. Shouldn't I be able to handle it, some people have 7 kids, what the hell do they do when just one of their children are talking in that demanding voice that 4 yr old girls have to follow them..... I'm leaving now.... mommy why are you so mean??? screaming- no fair.......
One of those days when you question your sanity of having children at all let alone thinking of having another one that will one day ask you why you are so mean. Of course when i decide I will not be taking her to the pool to yell and be crabby in front of others as was planned she then proceeds to morph back into my Abby girl. This Abby is totally helpful, fed dogs and horse while saying please and thank you. Where was she when i was lecturing her earlier about manners and treating people nicely? I was still too mad to take her to the pool even with major attitude adjustment so her papa did and he said she was an "angel." hughhh.

So so SO understand! "I don't love you anymore" "I don't want to play with you" all coupled with another grunting, pointing, demanding little person. Not fun. Sometimes I wish they would take turns, but if that happened, we'd never have any peaceful times!

Oh boy, what an adventure it to attempt to walk in your little one's shoes. Tess and i are always saying that their minds must be in a continual bi-polar state.. yes... no... wait.. no... yes..yes.. definitely no!!!! YES NO. I did receive from a workmate the other day a tid bit of encouragement; in that we must view the strong will as insurance to their future, in that they have the will to succeed in whatever it is the decide to do, rather than lay down and simply follow. Patience is right, but where can i find more?
Love you... chat at you later... when we get DSL maybe we will join the BLOG community...

Um... if it is indeed true that strong will in a child is insurance to future success, then my little 5-year-old angel has it made. "Mommy is stupid." (where did she even hear the word stupid? And is it okay to reply, "I know you are, but what am I?") "I hate you, Mommy." "Daddy, I love you... and that's the last time you'll ever hear me say it."

Hi Girl!
I'm so glad you started this site. Now I can feel connected with you, even though we don't talk nearly as much as we should.
I can completely identify with you on this one...just yesterday Lanie sat in a chair saying mean, mean, mommie mean...and I could see in her beautiful little eyes that she was waiting to see how I would respond! Luckily I remembered the "ignoring" technique and the moment quickly passed.
Love you!

Hey Sara! So good to hear from you-Its makes me feel so much better that other parents are facing the same stuff, that I don't have the only kid who is having a hard time. Thanks for commenting. Jack is sooooo sweet, is he a similar baby to Lanie?
